What is MacPip?
MacPip is a free directory and daily launch site for Mac apps. A person checks each app before it appears, and each app page shows a dated report of what was checked. It has nothing to do with the Python tool pip.
Is it free to list a Mac app?
Yes. Listing, choosing a launch date and a followed link to your site are all free. You do not need a badge on your site or a target number of votes.
How fast is the review?
Often in minutes, and always within a day. If an app does not pass, the reason appears on its status page so the maker can fix it.
What does checked by hand mean?
For downloads, we confirm the Developer ID signature and Apple notarization. We compare the screenshots with the real app, then open it to see that it does what it says.
Can a sponsor buy a higher place?
No. Sponsors get a separate row that always says Sponsored. Launch order comes from votes, and sponsors cannot pay to change it or to skip the check.
Which apps can be listed?
Apps that run on macOS, from the Mac App Store or the maker's own site. Web apps and iPhone-only apps are not listed.
Made a Mac app?
List it free in about two minutes. You choose the date, and you get a followed link.
