Launch plan builder

Where you will launch

How it works

Each step has a suggested number of days before or after your launch day, and the page works out the real dates from the one you pick. Steps that don't apply are left out: a Mac App Store app skips notarization, and a place you unticked disappears. If a step's date has already passed, it moves to a "Do these first" group, so you never see a date you can't meet. Nothing is saved, so copy the plan when you are happy with it.

Where the timings come from

The gaps are our own suggestions, not rules, and we have no data proving these exact days are best. Some of the shape comes from what is true of each step. Notarization usually takes under an hour according to Apple, so the early date only leaves room for fixing problems. MacPip takes dates up to 21 days ahead, and each day takes up to 5 launches. Product Hunt and Show HN get separate days because both need you there to answer. See where to launch a Mac app for the reasoning and for what each place costs.

An example

Pick a launch on a Tuesday, three weeks from now, for a direct download, with MacPip and Product Hunt ticked. Signing and notarizing fall on today's date, submitting to MacPip two weeks before the launch, drafting posts three days before, a clean download test the day before, and your notes on what each place sent you a week after.

This covers the order and dates. For every small step, use the full launch checklist, which remembers your ticks.
