One-line description checker

Paste the line that sits under your app name. It checks words and length right here on this page, and nothing is sent anywhere.

One-line description checker

Try an example:

How it works

It's a set of plain rules running on this page. It looks for hype words like "supercharge" and "seamless", claims like "fastest", and vague words like "workflow". It then removes those and the small words, and shows you what is left. If nothing concrete remains, your line probably isn't saying what the app does yet. There is no score, and no AI writes anything for you.

An example

"Supercharge your workflow" gets flagged for a hype word, and once the vague "workflow" goes too, nothing concrete is left. "Saves your clipboard history" passes with "saves clipboard history" left over, and a stranger could guess the app from those three words. Both of these examples are made up. Press the buttons above to try them.

What it can't tell you

Whether your line is true, or good. It reads words, not meaning, so a fine line can get a warning and a poor line can pass. "Powerful" may be the honest word for a compiler. Treat a warning as a question, and then try the real test: show the line to someone who has never seen your app, hide it, and ask what the app does.

Where the limits come from

MacPip's one-line field holds 90 characters. Apple's App information page allows a subtitle of up to 30 characters, checked November 1, 2026. Other sites have their own limits, so check them when you submit. We left out any limit we couldn't confirm.

The longer version of this advice is in how to write a one-line description.

Questions

Does it write a tagline for me?

No. It checks the one you wrote. Your app is something you know and a template does not, so the words should come from you.

Is my line saved?

No. It stays on this page and is gone when you leave.
