App Store keyword and subtitle checker
Paste the text from App Store Connect. It is counted right here on this page, and nothing is sent anywhere.

What it does
Your App Store product page has a few short text fields, each with a hard limit, and the keyword field has rules of its own. This tool counts every field as you type, the same way for each one, and shows how many characters you have left. For keywords it also looks for what Apple asks you to avoid: spaces after commas, repeated words, plurals of words you already have, words already in your app name, category names, the word "app", very short terms and special characters. Then it gives you a cleaned list to copy back.
The limits
| Field | Limit | When you can change it |
|---|---|---|
| App name | 2 to 30 characters | With a new version |
| Subtitle | 30 characters | With a new version |
| Keywords | 100, separated by commas, no spaces | With a new version |
| Promotional text | 170 characters | At any time |
| Description | 4,000 characters, plain text | With a new version |
| What's New | 4,000 characters | With each update |
One catch: Apple's product page guide says keywords are limited to 100 characters, and its App Store Connect help says 100 bytes. For English the two are the same. Letters with accents, Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean take 2 to 4 bytes each, so the tool shows both counts when they differ and warns when the bytes go over.

How it works
It counts characters the way you see them, so an emoji counts as one, and counts bytes as UTF-8. The keyword rules are plain word matching on this page. It can't tell how many people search for a word, whether a word is a trademark or another app's name, or how Apple ranks anything, and it won't pretend to. Nothing you type is saved or sent.
Questions
How long can an App Store subtitle be?
Up to 30 characters, the same as the app name. It shows under the name in search and on your product page, and you change it when you submit a new version.
What is the App Store keyword character limit?
100. Apple's product page guide says 100 characters and its App Store Connect help says 100 bytes, which is the same for plain English but less room for accented and non-Latin letters.
Should I put spaces after the commas in my keywords?
No. Apple asks for commas with no spaces, and each space uses up one of your 100. Spaces inside a phrase, like menu bar, are fine.
Should I repeat my app name in the keywords?
No. Apple says your app is already searchable by its name and company name, so repeating them wastes room.
Is what I type saved anywhere?
No. Everything is counted on this page and nothing is sent or stored.
